We had just bought a beautiful, new, loaded out, white mini-van for our family. Top of the line with everything. Even had a matching "Jesus" plate on the front of it that was elegant and tasteful! I loved that van. It was pretty, comfortable and never gave me a moment's trouble.
One day in prayer, the Lord spoke to my heart to give my van away to a single Mom in our church. I knew it was Him and I was willing to obey, but I was afraid what my husband might say. So, I didn't tell him for 3 weeks. I stressed during those days just knowing he was going to get angry with me and think I was nuts. Finally, while sitting on an airplane alone with no children to interrupt, I shared with him what God had told me. To my utter amazement, he said that's fine and he agreed to do it.
In those three weeks, our precious single Mom had gone out and purchased a really bad car. Way above what she could afford too. So, when we went to her to tell her about our van, her heart was sick as she had just bought this car. If I had gone to my husband right away, she would have never bought this car. God's timing was perfect, but I put a pothole in that road to blessing! My disobedience costs her this mistake. We were able to help her get rid of the car without a loss and she drove our fan for many years.
I didn't listen!
I had let FEAR direct my steps.
I was wrong.
God had it all worked out and I chose to listen to my FEAR and not my FAITH!
That taught me an incredible lesson. God finally got what He intended. but it took a whole lot more work and fuss for us than He had in mind. What if we couldn't have gotten her out of that car deal? I'm just grateful for God's mercy and grace for the sake of that wonderful single Mom and her boys.
What is it in your life that you are choosing not to follow God in? Take a moment and think about it. Usually we know right off. It comes to mind. If He tells us to do something, He has a purpose. And, HE TRUSTS US to do it!
Who gets the glory when we don't listen and follow His voice? That's right.....the enemy! He's a schemer and he will use everything available to him to keep us off the track God has intended us to walk. We must stand against Him with the full armor of God that has been given to us through Christ Jesus and have the commitment to obey the One who loves us the most!
HOW TO FOLLOW GOD:
1. Seek Him daily and listen for His Voice.
2. Choose to obey Him without reserve or excuses.
3. Move and take action to make sure you are doing what He has asked
4. Thank Him once its done and keep seeking Him! He's never finished
sculpting us into His image!
TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, teach me to hear Your Voice and obey. Give me a passion to live in total submission to You and Your Word. Thank you for trusting me with Your purposes. I offer myself to be used by You as You see fit. In Jesus Name, Amen!
