Are You Thankful?
Have you ever thought, I mean really gave some serious thought to the people, and things that God has placed in your life? Or do you take it all for granted? If we're being honest with ourselves its easy to do, isn't it? We grow so complacent and comfortable in our daily rushed routines that we
hardly ever give anything a second thought. Sure we tidy up the house and put dinner on the table.
Meet all the physical needs of our family as possible and never give thought to their mental or spiritual needs. We rush through the blessing over our meals so many times without truly listening.
“Thank you, Lord for this food....etc...etc...etc.”
I'm guilty of these things myself. I'm sure if we all took a good long look in the mirror we'd see that we all are, in some area of our lives anyway. The good news is, we don't have to stay that way. We don't have to let life get the better of our good intentions. If we make time for the gym so that we can be healthy and around for our children, yet fail to make one on one time with them, what good are we doing them? Now I'm not saying cut out your gym or workout time, or anything else for that matter. I think we should all work to better care for ourselves, but I am saying, if we can make the time for that, then we can make the time to spend with our family. We have that choice......its ours to make.
Thanksgiving is just around the corner. There never seems to be enough time during the holidays, and everything is so rushed that its hard to enjoy any of it. I want to challenge you to SLOW down.
I want to challenge you to make time, take an inventory if you will, of the precious things in your life right now. There is ALWAYS something that you can be truly thankful for. Make it a point to give God thanks for it. No matter if its one, or a million different things. Give God the thanks that
He deserves for placing it in your life. He didn't have to. But He did. He didn't have to put air in your lungs or a beating heart in your chest. But He did. Why? Because despite our ever stubborn and heartbreaking rebellious ways...He LOVES us. Let that sink in. God, the same one who created the universe and every plant, animal, star, and planet...loves YOU!
Now, I don't know about you, but that, to me, is something to be truly thankful for.
I Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Psalm 107:1
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
