Many times, believers will have a need and they will first run to others for prayer before they actually go to God themselves. I think maybe that is our need for comfort, but I think it's important for us to stop and think before we do that.
God says we are to confess our sins one to another, but He says we are to come to Him for our needs. Part of doing that is learning to trust Him and trust that He will actually do for us what He will do for others. We find a sense of security when others pray for us and may somehow think that its more effective. But, I don't think that is how we learn to rely on Christ as the foundation of our lives.
So, as your needs manifest themselves, go to God on your own first before your reach out for prayer. Pray His Word and declare it over yourself. YOU must have the belief. You can't take the faith and belief of someone else's as your own. He moves according to our faith and says whatsoever we ask in HIS WILL is going to be done. Pray first. Believe. Then, ask others to pray with you.
