Living in the sub-tropical climate of Central Florida, I wasn't experiencing the smooth transition from one season to the next. Life was one big, green season.
But, that's not the way our natural life really is though. There are peaks and there are valleys. Each season has a character all its own.
Let's talk WINTER! I think winter's character is REST. We hunker down (don't you love that term? You can just see warm parka's on everyone!) and our pace is slow. We have time to think, decide what we are gong to do in the future and plan.
As I watch the winter snow fall today, I feel a sense of resting settle in to my being.
For some, this snow will mean its going to bring them 2 extra hours of stress on the highway. Or they may find themselves skidding off the road on the ice. For me, I'm nice and warm, sitting in my kitchen, listening to Christmas songs and drinking Constant Comment tea.
It's all about our perspective. From what viewpoint are we looking at things?
Can you imagine what God's view must be like? He sees the big picture. He planned it for us! He knows what is ahead around the next curve. So, His perspective is absolute. Ours is jaded by where we are and how comfortable we are in that spot. He says in Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope."
Do we believe Him?
What if we decided, no matter where we were.......sitting inside drinking tea while the snow falls, or sliding around on Highway 51........that we are going to trust God. That life is under His control.
It's not dependent on us anymore. It's dependent on our belief that HE directs our day and wherever we are, so is He.
Trust is what brings true REST. So, wherever you are today.......comfortable or stressed......God is with you. He only allows trials so we can grow. We may not understand it, but that's only because our vision is limited. He sees the end of the story, so its time to let Him write it.
Sending You Love and Prayers,
Karen
